What Type of diving company is Osiris?

We tend to specialise in the offshore renewables (windfarm) sectors. However, our range of skills allows us to undertake a wide variety of diving projects. We truly do offer both above and below the water solutions.

Have Osiris ever had any strange diving assignments?

Yes, we where asked to provide diving and safety support to the BBC 2 science show – Science Shack. We had to address the subject of life underwater. To demonstrate this in a fun and interesting way to children we welded two builders’ skips together and equipped it to sustain life. That did represent a major challenge it was great fun though and the show was a great success. Other television credits include – A Touch of Frost and Wild Weather.

How safe is diving in the 21st century?

The standards are getting more exacting for all diving companies. The training element for all divers is key to staying alive. We also produce a full risk assessment and method of working statement is completed for every project.   The nature of diving often means using specialist tools in zero visibility. At Osiris we exceed all the current safety procedures and legislation. We also have full ISO 9001-2000 accreditation.

Have environmental issues impacted the diving industry?

Not so much in the daily routine of the job. We have however seen a major sector emerge though. The ‘renewables’, the increase in windfarm diving work has certainly taken off. The public demand for ‘greener energy’ has brought about a seed change in energy planning. This obviously means that we have a new set of rules for safety and operation. We are presently working on assignment at the Burbo bank offshore windfarm where our specialist skills were put to very good use.
